The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning is leading the implementation of the Victorian Government's world-leading Climate Change Act 2017. Along with a legislated target of net zero emissions by 2050, the Act sets out a system-based approach to adaptation that requires the development of five-yearly Adaptation Action Plans from 2021 for the built environment, education, health and human services, natural environment, primary production, transport, and water cycle systems to ensure Victoria is climate-ready.

The 2018 Adaptation Sector Summit, hosted and sponsored by the Department, is a key commitment in Victoria’s Climate Change Adaptation Plan 2017-2020. The summit aims to bring together individuals and organisations from each system to identify common challenges and solutions and is an important step in preparing for the introduction of Adaptation Action Plans.
